In addition to tutoring the practical side of music, we also seek to teach music theory to our students.  It’s our desire that our students are not only able to ‘do’ music but also understand what they are doing.
 
As well as recommending helpful books and movies and other available resources, we also provide our students with resources that we have carefully designed that they can take away from the lessons, make notes on and try at home. Keep an eye on our resource blog for more information

We rely heavily upon creating a positive teaching environment in which we feel our students learn best. Music is one of life’s enjoyments, it should be fun!  We recognise that from time to time our students will feel frustrated with the progress they feel they are making but we see all problems as challenges and encourage students to take a step back and to learn from their mistakes. Unfortunately learning to sing or play music doesn’t just happen over night, it takes time and it takes effort.
 
Adopting a flexible
approach to learning
perfect student yet! Our lesson plans aim to be adjustable to accommodate our individual student’s natural learning rate. Some of our guitar beginners (for example) will see a chord diagram, understand it instantly, place their fingers on the fretboard in the right place, adjust their positioning to get the best possible sound, apply exactly the right amount of pressure and strum the chord to perfection. But most don't!
